About this service

This is the University of Oulu’s Laturi system for launching, supervising, monitoring and evaluating the thesis process and for entering the finalised thesis for publication.

The entire thesis process is now controlled with the help of the Laturi system. The system enables communication between the supervisors and the student, as well as setting checkpoints as agreed upon by the supervisor(s) and the student.

The finalised and approved thesis is transferred from the system to the university archives and made available at certain workstations on the library premises. If the student has agreed to it, the thesis is also published at the OuluREPO - University of Oulu repository.

Instructions

According to the guidelines published by the Ministry of Education and Culture (2/500/2004) universities and universities of applied sciences must ensure that master's theses do not contain secret material, and that they are available to the public immediately after their approval. The actual thesis should not contain trade or professional secrets; they can only be included in the background material. If confidential or secret information is used in a thesis, the student must agree on the use of these materials in advance with the supervisor and, in the case of a commissioned thesis, with the party that commissioned the thesis.

The student is responsible for the content and rights of the thesis. The student must have a full copyright or a copy of his / her thesis, or an image, table or other material that is included in his / her thesis or has a web publishing right to such material.
